How I work

From first call to finished plans.

A clear process, so you always know what is happening, what comes next and what I need from you. You work with me directly at every stage, from the first conversation to the final drawing.

    Discovery call

    20 minutes

    Tell me about your project through the enquiry form, then book a relaxed call with me. We talk about your garden, your goals, budget and timing, and the best next step for you.

  2. 02

    On-site consultation

    $495 incl. GST

    Before visiting, I review your site from above and through the public planning records. Then I spend an hour or more walking the property with you, sharing ideas on layout, materials, levels and planting, and what to prioritise first. Book it on its own for expert advice, or as the first step of a design.

  3. 03

    Your proposal

    Online · 60 minutes

    If you would like a design, I prepare a tailored proposal and present it to you online: your project, real case studies with their challenges and solutions, and the design packages that suit it. The written proposal follows by email and is valid for 7 days.

  4. 04

    Welcome

    10% deposit

    Once I receive your signed proposal, I send your welcome pack, the deposit invoice and your onboarding questionnaire. Payment of the deposit secures your place in my design schedule. If you do not have a recent site feature survey, this is the time to arrange one.

  5. 05

    Concept design

    Stage one

    We start with a kick-off meeting on site, then I explore layouts, levels, materials and planting in the studio. Your concept is presented with a mood board and palettes, and with 3D visualisations in Masterplan PLUS and Comprehensive. Your feedback within two weeks keeps the project on track, then I refine the concept and we sign it off.

  6. 06

    Masterplan

    Stage two

    Now the detail. I document everything your contractors need to quote and build: set-out, levels, surfaces, planting, materials, details and notes, with lighting, elevations and a demolition plan in Masterplan PLUS and Comprehensive. In Masterplan PLUS and Comprehensive, exterior and plant selections are made together using the selections guides, then I run through the full set with you before final adjustments and sign-off.

  7. 07

    Build

    Your builder

    Your garden is built by a landscape contractor of your choice, all at once or in planned stages, and I can recommend builders I trust. In Masterplan PLUS and Comprehensive I help with quotes and visit during construction. Comprehensive adds an after-care plan, plant profiles and a check-in six months after planting.

Staying in touch

Kept in the loop.

While your design is in progress, I keep you informed with regular email updates: what is happening, what comes next, and anything I need from you.

Council approvals

Planned in from the start.

If your project needs council approval, I prepare the development application landscape or pool plan, either early in the concept stage or after concept sign-off, depending on the project. The submission is made by you or your consultant.

Payments

Paid in stages.

Design fees are paid in stages as the work progresses, as set out in your proposal. Any work outside the agreed scope is quoted or charged as set out in your proposal, and I always check with you first.
